Cauz: Just for fun,Wholesale NFL Jerseys, let's talk Tim Tebow
Tim Tebow. It's hard to think of a more divisive two word combination in the past twenty years of football. Oh sure, up until now we have been spared the media onslaught that comes with the former Heisman winner and 2-Time National Champion. As CFL fans we have been able to live in a world free from the crazy hype and speculation that follows the man with more Denver Bronco playoffs wins than Peyton Manning. It was easy for us to gaze south of the border and mock the 24 hour sports insanity that comes with having Tebow on your team's roster. But are we really that safe? With Tebow cut by the Patriots he has now been on three NFL teams in the past three years and his NFL options are seemingly coming to an end. Does this mean it’s Canada's turn? (insert dramatic music here)Before I continue, let me say I have no inside information and this is not a wild speculation type piece to generate false interest. This is simply looking at a topic that I still find interesting. There are so many different angles when it comes to this issue. Let's start small and work from there.Als likely not to call Tebow"We've never had a conversation with him or his representation. It's all for talk and there's nothing there, there's no substance to it ... I don't think they (Tebow camp) would be ready to do that. But if they are ... I'm sure they'll call us."Als GM/Head Coach Jim Popp in an interview with The Canadian Press.Tebow's rights are owned by the Montreal Alouettes, a team that will soon be looking for the eventual replacement to Anthony Calvillo. Many quarterbacks have dared try to unseat the throne of Calvillo, all have failed. Coincidentally one of those unlucky souls was Chris Leak who was the starter for the 2007 National Championship Florida Gators team when a certain double T quarterback was just a freshman. On a superficial level this seems like a match made in heaven. Tebow is a quarterback without a team while Montreal is a franchise with a 40+ year-old banged up signal caller. However it really isn't that simple, now is it?When it comes to sports rage very few topics get the old blood boiling quite like the idea that a quarterback who has started in the NFL,Cheap NFL Jerseys, especially one with an impressive NCAA pedigree, will automatically be a success in the CFL. I've railed about this before, there is no such thing as an automatic punched ticket of CFL success just because at one point you drew a pay cheque with the words "Roger Goodell" written on it. Just ask Cleo Lemon Eric Crouch or Akili Smith how their respective CFL careers went. To infer that Tebow will automatically be a success in the CFL is both ignorant and an insult to every athlete that works their behinds off just to make a roster spot. Now this is not to say that I wouldn't embrace Tebow giving it a shot. In fact, I would love to see this football experiment continue to play out in front of our eyes. For his own sake the CFL makes a lot of sense for him. Tebow needs to be in a league that so emphasizes the pass. He needs countless reps both in practice and even more importantly he needs to be throwing the ball 30-40 times in real game action. In short, Tebow needs to go to a place where the glare of the spotlight would be dimmed and the entire focus would be on his passing mechanics and his ability to read defences. For all the people that are blinded by the light of the NFL I would argue Tebow needs the CFL more than the other way around. Fan Poll Would QB Tim Tebow excel in the CFL? 1) Yes2) No View Results > Yes, his presence would give the league added profile but I wonder just how much of a bump his presence would have. I think we can all agree the league has survived just fine without him for the past 120 years or so. In my mind the perfect place would be in Hamilton. The team is getting a new stadium next year so they’ll be looking to make a splash. Tebow actually plays an old school, blue collar style of football. You're telling me the fans wouldn't go wild the first time Tebow knocked over Chip Cox on a first down run? The best case scenario would be for Tebow to come up to Canada, play for several years and develop the skills needed to be a legitimate passer. Think about the credibility that would be gained if the CFL could somehow create a pocket passer out of one of the awkward looking quarterbacks to ever play this game. Not that the CFL needs a boost of credibility, it doesn't. It would just be a helluva story if one of our coaches staffs could do what John Elway and Bill Belichick couldn't, breathe life into the career of one of the greatest college football players of all time.Of course, I have no idea what the future holds. I am not one of these people that roots vehemently against Tebow nor do I want to erect a statue to celebrate all of his glory. I am not the insecure CFL fan that turns their nose on anything that has even a faint whiff of the NFL nor am I the snobbish NFL fan that believes Tebow can march into this league and call his shot. What I am is a football fan that enjoys experiencing as many different fascinating stories that I can consume in a 24 hour time span. I love a good redemption story as much as the next fan and I would be wildly curious to see what the beginning, middle and end would look like if Tebow ever decides to attempt a comeback in Canada.

Campbell: Labour Day produces classic Eskimo moments
When the CFL schedule is released in the dead of winter in Edmonton, it’s always met with great anticipation by Eskimos fans. Fans make their holiday summer plans around the Eskimos schedule, some love to travel and follow the team on the road. No matter what the schedule looks like, you know there is one constant, Labour Day.Like college football in the United States, Labour Day represents the rivalry between the Eskimos and the Calgary Stampeders. The Labour Day Classic began on September 5th, 1949 with the Stampeders coming out of top 20-6 over the Eskimos in Edmonton. That’s right, the first five games of the Labour Day Classic were played in Edmonton. The remaining 47 have all been played in Calgary. There was no Labour Day Classic from 1954-1958, from 1964-1967, 1973, and 1981. The Eskimos hold an all-time Labour Day record of 29-22-1. Yes, there has been a tie, 28-28 in 1978. Their last win came two years ago, 35-7 win. The Eskimos have only three wins in their last nine Labour Day games.Labour Day has always been the point in the CFL season where the magnitude of the games really ramp up. It’s where teams look to establish first place in their division, a home playoff, or survival to capture the remaining playoff spot. Related Links Esks excited for challenge vs. Stamps Having lost their last four games by a combined score of just 12 points, the Eskimos are hoping that a pair of clashes with their rivals will spark some positive emotion. Esks SB Stamps hungry for a win Buy: Esks,Arizona Cardinals Jersey, Stamps Labour Day Tickets No matter what the record is between the two teams, winning Labour Day means bragging rights. The Eskimos back in 2003 finished the regular season with a 13-5 record and won the Grey Cup. They lost on Labour Day however 28-23 to the Stampeders who finished 5-13 that season. They won bragging rights because they won the biggest regular season game on the schedule. There have been many classic moments on Labour Day for the Eskimos in recent memory, to go over all of them would mean more print space than this website can handle. Here are some of the more memorable games in recent history.Sept 5, 2005: Eskimos 25, Stampeders 23This year was the last time the Eskimos hoisted the Grey Cup. It was the year that marked the return of Ricky Ray from his NFL stint, it was also the first season for Danny Maciocia as head coach as he faced his former boss, Tom Higgins. The score leads you to believe that the game was close throughout. Not so, as the Eskimos built up a 20-1 half-time lead before the Stampeders led by Henry Burris led his team a furious comeback. The game would come down to the final moments. The Stampeders scored a late touchdown and were lining up for the two-point convert to tie the game and send it to overtime. Henry Burris would take a time-count violation. On the next play, Burris scrambled looking for an open receiver when defensive tackle Cedric Scott tracked him down from the backside and sacked the Stampeders quarterback. Game over.Sept 3, 2001: Eskimos 34, Stampeders 33A very tough year for the Eskimos and the rest of the Western Division as Edmonton would finish first with a 9-9 record. A new quarterback was on the scene in the fiery Jason Maas. He would lead the Eskimos on a thrilling final drive which included key runs for first downs by Maas to set-up kicker Sean Fleming for the winning points.Sept 6, 1999: Eskimos 33, Stampeders 30 (OT)One of the worst seasons in Eskimos history, they finished with a 6-12 record. They beat the Saskatchewan Roughriders four times which helped them make the playoffs in the Western Division. Their other two wins came in B.C. Place Stadium and in McMahon Stadium on Labour Day. The scrappy bunch of Eskimos would force overtime against a team that would make the Grey Cup game that year. The Stampeders drove down to the Eskimos one yard line but the green and gold defense would stuff Dave Dickenson and the Stamps on third and goal securing the win and a massive upset.Fast forwarding to the 2013 and the matchup on paper doesn’t look very sexy. But no matter what the records are, everybody gets fired up for Labour Day.NOTES: Running back Hugh Charles will miss the Labour Day Classic with a leg injury suffered late in the Eskimos loss to Saskatchewan. John White will make his first CFL start, in seven games White has 21 carries for 66 yards. Middle linebacker J.C. Sherritt will be held out still recovering from a broken thumb, he should be ready for the rematch game. Defensive end Odell Willis is questionable with a left arm injury.

Try Acro Paragliding
Try Acro Paragliding
Acro paragliding is truly a sport for the adrenalin addict. It is genuinely the extreme sport end of paragliding. Pilots who fly or compete in this genre of the sport are highly skilled and have a very high level of confidence in both their ability and their equipment. It hsould always be remembered that it is only positive air pressure that holds the aerodynamic shape of a paraglider wing. If the wing unloads, it collapses.
The smart(albeit crazy) pilot always does acroparagliding over a large lake. Plus a rescue boat should be close by, as water landing presents its own hazards.
Reserve chtes are carried as standard equipment. Some times two, and sometimes rocket propelled reserves are preferred for ultra fast openings. Rogallo style reserves are also becoming popular.
The acro show includes mild spirals and wingovers to hearstopping tumbles, helispins and wild Mctwist and mistyflip.
The launch options for Acro are no different to launching for regular paragliding flights. Conventionally they can launch of a hill or mountain, and catch a thermal to the desired height. Truth is most acro pilots are impatient, so they tend to use high peaks to launch. Tow launching is however the preferred method as it gets the job done fast. Since the sport is commonly done over a large body of calm water, a boat is usually used as a launch tow vehicle. Finally there's Dbagging from a balloon ,helicopter or slow light aircraft.
DBagging is similar to static line parachute jump. The wing is specially packed and released as the pilot falls. Once the wing is open, its time to start spiralling, tumbling and spinning earthwards.
Acro paragliding is a rapidly growing sport with some high profile international competitions.
SIV course ("Simulation de Incidence en Vol", French for "Simulated Incidents in Flight") or safety courses as they're sometimes known are the first step to truly understanding the limits and capabilities of both you and your glider.
